A year after the protein lead report: how Puori's customers use the batch test results

In October 2025 Consumer Reports published an investigation into lead in protein powders. Puori publishes a third-party test report for every batch of every product, reachable from a QR code on the pack, so the report gave a direct way to measure whether customers actually use that information when a safety story breaks. This page publishes the figures behind Puori's October 2026 release, with periods, definitions and the survey questions, so that journalists, researchers and customers can check them.

The headline figures

  • US visits to the test-results page for Puori's whey protein (PW1) rose 142% from September to October 2025, the month the Consumer Reports report was published.
  • The attention lasted: from November 2025 to August 2026, monthly US visits to the PW1 page averaged 23% above the level of July to September 2025.
  • Pages for Puori's non-protein products were flat or rose modestly in the same month (collagen +26%, creatine -9%), so the surge was specific to the product the report was about.
  • Among 858 US Puori customers surveyed in the second quarter of 2026, 81% said published third-party test results and QR codes were a key or supporting reason they bought or rebought, 82% said the results made Puori more trustworthy and 85% said they made Puori easier to recommend.
  • 19% of those customers had scanned the QR code on a pack; a further 39% knew about it but had not scanned it.

How the data was collected

Visit figures are Google Analytics page views of Puori's test-results pages by visitors located in the United States, July 2025 to August 2026. The pages are the destination of the QR code printed on each pack and of the test-results links on puori.com; a page view is counted whether the visitor arrived by scanning the code or by clicking a link. Figures are compared month to month and are not seasonally adjusted. Pages with fewer than 100 US views a month are not reported.

Survey figures come from Puori's quarterly customer survey, sent by email to Puori customers and run in SurveyMonkey. The Q2 2026 wave included a block of questions on published test results and the QR code, introduced with the text "Puori tests every batch of every product against 200+ contaminants. So that you, the consumer, knows exactly what is (active ingredients) and what is not in the product (contaminants)." This page uses the 858 US respondents who answered that block. The questions and the answers counted were:

  • "Has Puori's publishing of third-party test results and QR code transparency influenced your decision to buy or rebuy Puori?" The 81% combines "Yes, it was a key reason" and "Yes, it was a supporting reason"; the other options were "No, but it's good to know" and "No, it hasn't influenced my decision".
  • "To what extent do you agree with the following statement: Seeing actual batch-level test results makes Puori feel more trustworthy than brands that only make claims on their packaging." The 82% combines "Agree" and "Strongly agree" on a five-point scale from "Strongly disagree" to "Strongly agree".
  • "Puori's transparency makes it easier for me to recommend the brand to others." The 85% combines "Agree" and "Strongly agree" on the same five-point scale.
  • "Before today, were you aware that every Puori product has a QR code on the label linking to batch-level test results?" Options: "Yes, and I've scanned it" (19%), "Yes, but I haven't scanned it" (39%), "No, I wasn't aware of this".

Respondents are Puori customers, not a sample of all supplement users, and the survey is voluntary, so the figures describe Puori's customer base rather than the market.

What Consumer Reports and regulators found

Consumer Reports reported in October 2025 that more than two-thirds of the 23 protein products it tested exceeded California's Proposition 65 limit for lead. In June 2026 the Texas Attorney General opened an investigation into heavy metals in protein powders. Puori's products were not part of the Consumer Reports test, and Puori makes no statement about the results of any other brand.

About Puori PW1 whey protein

PW1 is Puori's whey protein. Every batch of every Puori product is third-party tested by the Clean Label Project for more than 200 contaminants, including heavy metals, pesticides and BPA, and the batch-level results are published before the batch is released for sale. To check the results for a specific batch, scan the QR code on the pack or visit the PW1 test results page.

Frequently asked questions

Does this data say anything about how much lead is in Puori's protein?

No. This page is about how customers use the published test results, not about the results themselves. The batch reports, including heavy-metal results, are on the test-results page for each product.

Did other product pages see the same rise?

No. The Consumer Reports report was about protein powders, and the data suggests customers went looking for the report that matched the story. Collagen and creatine pages were flat or rose modestly, which is why Puori reads the protein figure as a response to the report rather than a general rise in traffic.

Can I cite or reuse these figures?

Yes, with attribution to Puori and a link to this page. Please quote the period, the market (US) and the sample size alongside any percentage. For interview requests, contact press@puori.com.

Will this page be updated?

Yes. Puori will add the October 2026 figures once the month is complete, so the page shows a full year-on-year comparison, and will update the survey figures when the next wave is analysed. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page.
